Yarrow
Achillea millefolium
Yarrow is an ancient medicinal herb turned modern garden star — flat-topped flower clusters in every warm color imaginable, held above ferny, aromatic foliage. 'Moonshine' (bright yellow) and 'Paprika' (red-to-gold) are exceptional cultivars. It thrives in terrible soil and scorching heat where other perennials wilt. Butterflies love it. Dried flowers last forever.
Care Guide
Plant in full sun with well-drained soil. Lean, poor soil is actually better — rich soil makes it floppy. Deadhead for repeat bloom. Divide every 2-3 years (it spreads). Cut back to basal foliage in fall. No fertilizer. Excellent cut and dried flower.
