Daylily
Hemerocallis spp.
Daylilies are the ultimate low-maintenance perennial — tough as nails, beautiful, and available in literally every color except true blue. Each bloom lasts only one day, but a single plant can produce 200-400 blooms per season. Plant different varieties for continuous bloom from May through October. They multiply rapidly and are nearly impossible to kill.
Care Guide
Plant in full sun for maximum bloom. Tolerates almost any soil. Water to establish, then largely drought-tolerant. Divide every 3-4 years when clumps get crowded. Remove spent flower stalks for tidiness. Fertilize lightly in spring. Essentially bulletproof.
