Periwinkle is the classic shade groundcover — glossy, dark evergreen leaves with charming blue-violet flowers in spring. It forms a dense mat that chokes out weeds and covers bare ground under trees, on slopes, and in difficult shady areas where nothing else wants to grow. 'Bowles' Variety' has the largest, most vivid blue flowers.
