Serviceberry (Amelanchier)
Amelanchier × grandiflora
Serviceberry is the ultimate four-season native tree — white flowers before leaves in spring, edible blueberry-like fruits in summer (delicious in pies), brilliant orange-red fall foliage, and beautiful smooth gray bark in winter. Multi-stem specimens are especially elegant. Birds compete with you for the berries. 'Autumn Brilliance' is the top cultivar.
