Full sun for best fruiting, partial shade okay. Moist soil preferred but adaptable. Prune heavily in late winter — it grows back fast. 'Black Lace' and 'Black Beauty' are the best ornamental varieties. Berries must be cooked before eating (raw berries are mildly toxic).
