Limelight Hydrangea
Hydrangea paniculata 'Limelight'
Limelight Hydrangea is the most reliable, spectacular hydrangea you can grow — enormous cone-shaped blooms start lime green in summer, turn creamy white, then blush to deep pink in fall. Unlike mophead hydrangeas, it blooms on new wood so it never fails to flower, even after harsh winters. Prune in late winter and it comes back bigger every year.
Care Guide
Plant in full sun to partial shade. Any well-drained soil. Prune by 1/3 to 1/2 in late winter — it blooms on new wood. Water during drought. Fertilize in spring. Leave flower heads for incredible fall and winter interest. Can be trained as a small tree. One of the most foolproof flowering shrubs.
