Barberry delivers year-round color with zero effort — deep burgundy, purple, gold, or variegated foliage depending on cultivar. 'Crimson Pygmy' is a compact deep red; 'Gold Pillar' is a golden column; 'Rose Glow' has pink-splashed leaves. Thorny stems make it deer-proof and an excellent security hedge. Brilliant red fall color and red berries persist into winter.
